Volvariella volvacae (Paddy Straw Mushroom)


Straw mushrooms are cold in nature and is especially good for summer, they clears Heat, benefits "Yin" energy and promotes the production of body fluid. They contain protein, fat, iron, zinc, various amino acids and large amount of vitamin C. They have healing function for hypertension patients and those with high blood cholesterol level. They have been used as an auxiliary treatment for cancer and diabetes patients.

Characteristics:


Subtropical Volvariella species, easily growing on straw. Cultivated extensively as well as intensively. The minimum incubation and cultivation temperatures make the growth unprofitable in temperate climate zones, but very interesting for hot climates. The grey-beige fruit bodies are harvested before the volva opens, at a size of 3 to 5 cm.

Bulk pasteurisation: temp. in centre of substrate has to be kept minimum 4 hours at 62 °C
